As soggy spring starts, what next? April showers, of course

By Richard Marsden

SPRING is off to a soggy start with a wet and windy week – and no let up until after Easter it seems.

Following a brief cold snap over the weekend, milder weather is now moving in.

But umbrellas and raincoats are worth keeping handy as forecasters warn today and tomorrow are both likely to be wet, accompanied by strong winds.

Heavy showers are set to arrive on Thursday – followed by gales and a drenching for the South on Friday. Steven Keates, Meteorological Office spokesman, said: ‘Wet and windy is very much the story. It’ll be an unsettled week for much of England and Wales.’

This is set to continue into April, particularly for the southern half of the UK, with drier, brighter conditions in the North.

The Met Office forecast covering the next fortnight, including the Easter weekend, states: ‘A predominantly unsettled pattern, with showers for many.’
