Rowling slams trans ‘mob’ in women’s rally assault

JK Rowling has slammed trans activists and ‘repellent scenes’ in New Zealand after a women’s rights advocate was doused in tomato sauce.

Let Women Speak organiser Kellie-Jay Keen-Minshull, known as Posie Parker, was attacked at her rally on Saturday, forcing her to leave the Auckland protest early. She has since been reported to have left New Zealand after protesters made clear the mother from Wiltshire wasn’t welcome.

Ms Rowling then highlighted how trans activists in London were gathered outside an event held by The Lesbian Project – a group that champions lesbian rights. She shared a tweet from one of the attendees claiming activists outside were aiming to disrupt the meeting.

She responded by claiming those attending the event in Euston – also on Saturday – were ‘being intimidated and threatened’. And she said those gathered in New Zealand at Parker’s rally were equivalent to a ‘mob’ who had ‘assaulted women speaking up for their rights’.

Parker, 48, had travelled to New Zealand on her ‘Let Women Speak’ tour, which campaigns against transgender women using female-only spaces.
