HOUSE
of Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle will miss Prime Minister’s Questions to attend Betty Boothroyd’s funeral tomorrow. The clash of dates may not be entirely a coincidence. Baroness Boothroyd was no fan of PMQs being held once a week at noon on Wednesdays. She preferred the old arrangement of a shorter session happening on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, and was unimpressed when Tony Blair pushed through the change in 1997.
