Hands-on nursing
DUE to staffing gaps, the Government will publish a 15year NHS strategy for new nursing apprentices who will do much of their learning on the job (Mail). What a wonderful idea — but it’s not new.
They are going back to how it was when I did my training in 1972: several weeks of study followed by experience on the wards. I didn’t need a degree to care, and after three years I was a qualified SRN. I went on to manage a hospital. A. McGRATH, Wallingford, Oxon.
