He’s Levy’s top target but Real and Chelsea are also circling

TOTTENHAM chairman Daniel Levy has made Julian Nagelsmann his top target to replace Antonio Conte as head coach and is waiting to hear if the German wants the job.

Nagelsmann was sacked by Bayern Munich last week, but is one of the most sought-after managers in Europe, with Real Madrid and Chelsea also interested in him.

His immediate availability and the fact that he can be appointed without having to pay compensation make him a very attractive prospect, and Levy is acutely aware of how difficult it is going to be to attract the 35-year-old to Spurs, given he is likely to have numerous options.

Spurs have made contact with Nagelsmann but Levy wants to weigh up his chances before turning his attention to other candidates to replace Conte, who left the club on Sunday night.

Joining Real, a team already set up for instant success, could suit Nagelsmann, but he has admirers at Chelsea and would

AGED 35, Julian Nagelsmann has already had three managerial jobs, after retiring as a player in 2008.

IN 2010, he began his coaching career at Hoffenheim and got the first-team job in 2016, where he led them to successive top-four finishes.

HE JOINED RB Leipzig in 2019 and took them to a Champions League semi-final, beating Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham 4-0 en route.

NAGELSMANN joined Bayern Munich on a five-year deal in 2021 for a world record managerial fee of £22million.

DESPITE winning the Bundesliga in his first season, the German was sacked last week. Bayern sit a point off leaders Borussia Dortmund.

HE IS a vegetarian as well as keen ice hockey player, mountain biker and skier.
