ROSA DANNAHUE

THIS new rose named after Danny Clarke, aka The Black Gardener, was my favourite plant at Chelsea. Dannahue is an English shrub rose with warm peachy coloured flowers and the most divine fragrance. It took David Austin Roses 12 years of meticulous breeding to develop. Now £10,000 from sales of the rose will go to the charity Grow2Know, a community of gardeners set up in the wake of the Grenfell Tower fire of 2017, and the money will help fund planting in deprived urban areas. The rose is suited to city life and happy in containers, against walls or fences.
