1984 JOINS Coventry in June from Notts County for £68,000, going on to make 179 appearances, scoring 28 times in seven years. 1987

CAPTAINS Coventry to a 3-2 extra-time FA Cup final win over Tottenham. It remains the club’s only major trophy.

1992 A YEAR after leaving for Oldham, he joins Newcastle United, becoming Kevin Keegan’s first signing for the club. Kilcline is made captain and helps save Newcastle from relegation to the third tier. Keegan later describes Kilcline as his most important signing.

1998 FOUR years after leaving Newcastle, he retires after spells at Swindon, Mansfield and Halifax.
