Back from the brink of death, balcony fall Scot

By David Meikle

A WOMAN left with horrific injuries after she plunged from a balcony while on holiday in Croatia is now fit to fly home to Scotland.

Jennifer Walsh had travelled with friends for a break in Dubrovnik but ended up in hospital after her near-fatal fall.

Doctors discovered that the 22year-old had suffered a bleed on the brain, two separate fractures to her skull and a broken collarbone.

All her ribs on her left side were broken, as was one of her wrists.

After the fall earlier this month, Miss Walsh fell into a coma and had to undergo life-saving brain surgery.

However, she awoke from the coma last weekend and managed to speak a few sentences.

Doctors have now given her the all-clear to return to Scotland for treatment in a hospital near her Edinburgh home.

It is expected she will make a full recovery after earlier being given a 50/50 chance of survival.

Her sister Sara, 20, said: ‘Yesterday we got the news that Jen is fit to fly home to Scotland.

‘This will be via private air ambulance and she will then get taken to a hospital close to us.

‘Jennifer has been able to say a few sentences which is so amazing. She is still confused due to the trauma of the accident, which is normal. We have also been informed by the doctors that she will make a full recovery.’

Miss Walsh added: ‘This is the news we all needed to hear and the news we all prayed for.

‘We have a long road ahead of us for her full recovery but day by day we are receiving more positive news about Jen.’

A GoFundMe page has raised more than £38,200 to help Miss Walsh.
