£180k to help clean seas of rubbish
A PROJECT to remove litter from Scotland’s coastal waters has been given £180,000.
Marine Fund Scotland, which supports the seafood sector and marine environment, has awarded the grant to the Fishing for Litter scheme.
As well as removing waste from the sea, the initiative raises awareness of the environmental impact of litter.
It works in 20 harbours with 280 fishing vessels.
Rural Affairs Secretary Mairi Gougeon said the grant ‘demonstrates our commitment to reducing plastic pollution’.
