HOW can it be claimed James Bond is English (Letters)?

In Ian Fleming’s novels, Bond was Scottish on his father’s side and his mother was Swiss. Being played in the first films by Sean Connery gave the role a greater deal of authenticity than some of the subsequent Bond actors.
