No confidence vote blow
SNP and Green MSPs united to vote down a motion of no confidence in the leadership of Glasgow’s health board over the hospital infections scandal.
During a debate yesterday over NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar also urged MSPs to call on the Scottish Government to step in and take control.
But after the vote was lost 6 to 5 , MSPs backed an SNP amendment noting the board carried out 91 per cent of 108 recommendations after an independent review and welcomed one to be conducted by Healthcare Improvement Scotland.
The Tories called for a second QEUH public inquiry. Scots party leader Douglas Ross said board bosses had made ‘grave mistakes’.
Public Health Minister Maree Todd said: ‘Where there are concerns, they will be investigated and acted on.’
