Cool £250k to buy ice house
A HISTORIC ice house described as one of Scotland’s most unusual homes has gone on the market for £250,000.
The property, pictured, on the shores of Loch Crinan in Argyll has featured on TV show Restoration Man and was called a ‘half-Hobbit, half-Tellytubby house’ by presenter George Clarke. The architect picked the ‘incredible’ home, which dates from the early 19th century, as one of his favourites in his seven years of filming the Channel 4 home improvement show.
In recent years the ice house has been updated to include a frameless ‘light loft’ fitted with bespoke, reinforced and heated glass walls, door and glass floor, ironically keeping it warm throughout the year.
Andrew Fuller, of estate agent Bell Ingram which is handling the sale, said the ‘unique’ property is ‘perfect for history lovers and nature lovers alike’, offering the chance to ‘truly escape it all’.
