THE PRINCE’S TRUST AWARDS, 8.30PM, STV
THIS year marks the 17th year of the Prince’s Trust Awards. Ant and Dec (pictured) have been hosting the ceremony for the past decade, but this is the first time it will be on television. ‘It’s a really special day. The stories you hear are incredible’ says Dec. ‘Every year, we say “it’s a shame it’s not on the telly”, but this year, they have kindly agreed to broadcast it, which will mean more people can see it. It feels amazing.” Held on Tuesday at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, in the presence of the Prince of Wales, the ceremony showcased the achievements of those who have been helped by the Trust, with a host of famous faces on hand to present the prestigious awards. The charity was founded in 1976 by Prince Charles, who believed that every young person should have the chance to succeed, no matter what their background or the challenges they are facing. The inspirational youngsters honoured range from Callum — who has a genetic condition that has left him needing 60 surgeries but whose determination has earned him an Educational Achiever award — to former drug addict Charlotte, who has picked up a Breakthrough award after turning her life around, and the likes of Enterprise award winner Kayleigh, who launched her catering business during lockdown.
