Don’t knock Woolworths
WHAT was wrong with working at Woolworths (Letters)? When my cousin left school at 15, he had no qualifications and no idea what he wanted to do. But that all changed when he applied for a job as store room boy responsible for sweeping and general cleaning at his local Woolworths.
He worked hard and was a popular member of staff, so when a vacancy for deputy shop manager arose he was persuaded to apply. He was offered the job and a few years later became manager of a much larger store. He eventually became an area manager in London. So not a bad career move.
