Lennon sees red after steering Nicosia to cup

NEIL LENNON was ordered off amid angry scenes in the Cypriot Cup final after his Omonia Nicosia side lifted the trophy for the first time in a decade. The ex-Celtic and Hibs manager saw defender Shehu Abdullahi redcarded just five minutes into the showdown with Ethnikos Achnas. However, despite being a man down for 115 minutes of the final, Nicosia managed to keep the game scoreless through extra-time. Lennon was booked in extra-time for his antics on the touchline, only to be sent off for furiously gesturing and clapping at the officials. His Omonia side went on to triumph 5-4 in a dramatic shoot-out to win the cup for the first time since 2012 — clinching a place in the Europa League qualifiers, which they will enter at the play-off round. But the Northern Irishman now looks set for a spell on the sidelines when the Cypriot authorities look into his dismissal.
