The final ignominy! Salmond’s RT desk to be sold off

By Eirian Jane Prosser

A BRANDED desk used on Alex Salmond’s television show is being auctioned off in a sale of items belonging to Kremlinbacked broadcaster RT.

The desk the former First Minister sat behind for The Alex Salmond Show has a starting price of £50 but has yet to attract any bidders.

Leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats Alex-Cole Hamilton said he did not think anyone would want a memento from this ‘sorry period’. Mr Salmond, left, suspended the chat show in February following fierce criticism after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. RT’s UK branch was later stripped of its broadcasting licence by Ofcom, before a liquidator was appointed.

It is not clear whether RT or the liquidator put the items up for auction.

The RT studio, at Millbank Tower in Westminster, was shut down and cleared out.

More than 400 studio items, including iPhones, computers and cameras, have been put up for sale by PDS Auctions. Bidding ends on June 6.
