Two charged over bird egg destruction
TWO people have been arrested and charged in connection with the alleged destruction of a large number of birds’ eggs and disturbing a rare and endangered species.
The incident, which allegedly saw the eggs from nesting seabirds destroyed and the disturbance of a corncrake, happened in the Durness area of Sutherland last Tuesday.
Constable Daniel Sutherland, wildlife crime liaison officer, said: ‘Police Scotland takes the unlawful disturbance of protected breeding birds seriously and all reports and information received regarding any possible disturbances will be investigated thoroughly and dealt with appropriately.’
