It’s a dog’s life for man living as a collie

By Isaan Khan

MANY of us would jump at the chance to fulfil a life-long dream – even if it is barking mad. And one Japanese dog fanatic is certainly following some sort of furry fantasy after transforming... into a collie.

The Youtuber, known as Toko-san, spent £12,500 on a bespoke costume which allows him to stand on all fours, roll around and move like a dog.

The outfit, made by film and TV costume agency Zeppet, took 40 days and multiple fittings until it was ready.

This included hours of research on how to make the mouth open and close by itself and enhancing the coat’s ‘fluffiness’ to mask the man inside.

In a bizarre video clip, Toko – whose real identity is unknown – is shown standing on all fours in the collie suit as piano music plays in the background. He lifts his front paws in an apparent greeting before lying back and rolling around on the floor.

In a Twitter post which has more than 55,000 likes, he wrote: ‘I ordered a costume! Thanks to you, I was able to fulfil my dream of becoming an animal!’

He told a website: ‘I made it a collie because [the suit] looks real when I put it on. I thought that a big animal close to my size would be good.

‘There are restrictions but you can move in it. However, if you move too much, it will not look like a dog.’ A Zeppet spokesman said they wanted to ‘reproduce the appearance of a real dog’.
