Burke rejected Killie role to keep on playing at 38
CHRIS Burke says he has quit Kilmarnock because he still wants to continue playing at the age of 38. The veteran winger featured 38 times last season as the Rugby Park outfit claimed the Championship title. But Killie manager Derek McInnes only offered the ex-Rangers star a deal to remain at the club as part of the backroom team. Burke, who had been with the Ayrshire side since 2017, said: ‘It was a fantastic opportunity but I still have that desire to play football at first-team level and hopefully offer something to a club. I had a great five seasons at Killie.’
