‘We were trying to help’
FRASER Malcolm, 20, was admitted to hospital after his family asked for help when he started being aggressive towards them.
He has a learning disability and limited speech.
When his family asked for help two years ago, they were told he would only be in hospital for a short time.
But he was sectioned under the Mental Health Act and moved to Woodland View Hospital in Ayrshire, beside people with serious mental illnesses.
His mother Karen said: ‘We were doing it to get him the help he needed. How wrong were we.’
She said he has deteriorated physically and mentally since then.
