Damaging delay

THE next time the leader of the governing party has to be chosen, it must be done more speedily. The process to replace Boris Johnson began on July 11 and will not end until September 5. We are treading water until a new leader is appointed.

This arrangement concocted by the 1922 Committee is not good for the country and its national and international standing. We can’t waste time with such a long drawn-out process. FRANK L. APPLEYARD,
