FOREST INTERESTED IN MOVE FOR BARISIC
STEPHEN McGOWAN
BORNA BARISIC has emerged as a transfer target for bigspending Nottingham Forest. The newly-promoted English Premier League side have already signed a dozen new players this summer at a cost of £84million. And boss Steve Cooper is poised to further add to his squad following the arrivals of Watford striker Emmanuel Dennis and free agent Cheikhou Kouyate on Saturday, with Atalanta’s Remo Freuler completing his switch last night.
Despite crashing through the £100m barrier, Forest are also in the market for a left-back. Barisic is on a list of names along with Chelsea’s Emerson Palmieri. Croatian international Barisic joined Rangers in a £2m deal from Osijek in 2018. Linked with a move to Roma last season, the 29-year-old has regained his place in Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s starting XI despite the signing of Turkish international Ridvan Yilmaz on a five-year deal.
