MURRAY RELIEF AS RAITH END MORTON’S UNBEATEN START

IAN MURRAY picked up his first league win as Raith Rovers manager as Morton suffered their first setback of an impressive start to the season. Having gone over four games without a goal, the relief was palpable at Stark’s Park when Liam Dick headed an Aidan Connolly cross into the net six minutes into the second half. A second from Connolly following good build-up play by Jamie Gullan allowed the Raith faithful to breathe easy, though Cameron Blues’ header ten minutes from time made for a nervy finish. Elsewhere, Ayr United and Hamilton shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw at Somerset Park. Lee Bullen’s Honest Men opened the scoring after three minutes through Afolabi Akinyemi but Andy Winter levelled for Accies. Dan Reilly put the visitors in front after 73 minutes but Andy Murdoch struck an 85thminute equaliser to maintain Ayr’s unbeaten start and keep them in third place.

The Verdict: The Championship
