Woman accused of forcing man into sex ‘left love bite’

By Andy Dolan

A COLLEGE student accused of forcing a man to have sex with her left him with a love bite so severe that it looked like she had ‘strangled’ him, jurors heard.

Imogen Brooke, who was ‘bigger and stronger’ than her alleged victim, is said to have given the ‘nonconsensual’ love bite after ‘pinning’ him down for sex when drunk, the court heard.

Jurors were told she took a photo of the bruise the next morning and sent it to him, giving the man ‘flashbacks of a fairly horrific incident’.

The man told police he felt ‘violated’ by the encounter and couldn’t move underneath his much heavier partner, who weighed 24 stone at the time of the alleged attack, the court heard. Giving evidence remotely by video link, he told the jury: ‘I stared at the wall most of the night after she forced me to have sex.’

Southampton Crown Court heard he got flashbacks of the night during which Brooke, 30, got on top of him in bed.

Jurors were told Brooke took a photo of him when he was asleep and sent it to him the next day. He added: ‘I found a photo of me – of me asleep and a bruise on my neck. The bruise was from (Brooke).

‘The mark to my neck came during the incident that took place in those early hours. She was biting my neck. It took place while she was on top of me, when she had me pinned on my back, she was biting my neck at the same time.’

He denied being given the love bite consensually.

Jurors heard that Brooke was ‘in the mood’ when she pulled the alleged victim, who she met online, on to his back while in bed. Prosecutor Robert Bryan said the victim wanted to go to sleep but Brooke wanted sex.

‘She pulled him towards her and said, “Well, you may be saying no, but your d*** is saying yes”.’ In his police interview, the man accepted he had an erection, but said he did not want to have one.

The following day, he sent Brooke a voice note asking if she wanted to see the love bite. Brooke replied: ‘The picture I took last night looked horrific, like I strangled you. I’m never doing that to you again, by the way. You liked it last night.’

Audrey Archer, defending Brooke, asked the man: ‘That following day you had no cause to be upset with Miss Brooke because she hadn’t made you do anything against your will, had she?’ ‘She did,’ he replied.

Brooke, from Southampton, denies causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent.

The trial continues.
