She charmed me. I loved her lack of emotional baggage

Interviews: SAMANTHA BRICK

DATING PAST?

I’ve been in love four times. I was with my daughter’s mother for 32 years. Since 2019, I’ve had three relationships, but all of them ended within six months. I tend to meet women in real life situations. Although I met someone online, I find that way of dating so distasteful. It’s a humiliating process.

PRE-DATE NERVES?

even though it was my first blind date — no. That’s down to my age and life experience. I arrived early at the restaurant and had a couple of drinks at the bar — it was an evening date. So why not?

FIRST IMPRESSIONS?

Lucy and I laughed about the mishap with the waiter sending her to our table while I was at the bar. but I realised that we wouldn’t be a match; her curves are gorgeous, but they’re not for me. However, I was charmed by her.

EASY TO TALK TO?

YES. I led the way, especially because I was two cocktails into the evening by then. We kept the conversation light. That said, Lucy spoke about her relationships and the role her exes play in her life.

Lucy has been married three times, but I’d never judge someone for that. Let’s face it, by the time we’re in our 50s we’ve all had relationships where we could have got married, but didn’t. I’ve never married, but I’d like to give it a go.

I admire Lucy, she isn’t carrying too much emotional baggage and is happy with her life — that’s not just healthy but attractive in a woman.

EMBARRASSING MOMENTS?

even though I’m usually the one to drop something or trip over, on this occasion I didn’t.

DID SPARKS FLY?

none on my side. I want to stress that I did enjoy Lucy’s company.

SEE HER AGAIN?

In TERMS of romance, no. but I don’t subscribe to the idea of not seeing someone again just because sex is off the cards. While we didn’t exchange numbers, I’d definitely meet up again if she’d like to.

WHAT DO YOU THINK SHE THOUGHT OF YOU?

I THINK she found me attractive. opposites can attract, but I felt

we were too different physically.

WOULD YOUR FRIENDS LIKE HER?

For sure, Lucy is lovely, and she’s raised three children on her own. I have tremendous respect for her and know my friends would, too.

ALEX’S VERDICT: 9/10

LIKED? Lucy’s kind and gentle demeanour.

REGRETS? Not at all.

COFFEE OR CAB? Cab.
