BOX-OFFICE SUCCESS AS EVERYMAN CUTS LOSSES

UPMARKET cinema chain Everyman swung back into profit as film fans returned after pandemic restrictions ended.

It made a profit of £800,000 for the six months to the end of June, up from a £7.7m loss a year ago as revenue rose to nearly £41m from £7.7m, boosted by films including Top Gun: Maverick (pictured), The Batman and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Admissions totalled 1.8m, 20pc ahead of pre-pandemic levels.

Everyman plans to open more UK venues as its market share grew by 1.5pc compared to 2019. The shares rose 1pc, or 1p, to 98p.
