KEEP AN EYE ON CUTTINGS
If you took cuttings from tender plants this autumn, they should have begun to develop roots. Check for mildew and rot, which can cause serious damage. Make sure all non-hardy cuttings are cosy, with their rooting medium warm and moist. Remove any casualties. When the cuttings have developed healthy roots, they will begin to grow, then you can pot up. But roots will still be young and sparse so handle with care and, if in doubt, leave them to grow a little more. full protection from sub-zero temperatures will be essential.
