Boss urges Hibs to be brave

IAIN COLLIN

LEE JOHNSON wants more psychological resilience from Hibernian after insisting he will not change his tactics away from home. The easter Road side face a massive challenge on their return to Premiership action in a fortnight’s time when they will be the first opponents of Michael Beale’s new era at Rangers. The last time Hibs travelled through to Glasgow, they were on the wrong end of a humiliating 6-1 hammering from Celtic. They have also turned in disappointing displays amongst their other defeats on the road to livingston, St Mirren, Dundee United, Aberdeen and Kilmarnock. Johnson, whose side have lost six of their last seven matches, admits he would gladly welcome a poor performance if it brings a victory. But the former Sunderland and Bristol City manager is adamant he will not completely alter his approach whenever his side are not at home. ‘There’s certain games we’ve struggled in,’ Johnson said. ‘I’m not kidding anyone when I say I’d rather play horrendously and nick a 1-0 win off someone’s backside. ‘I genuinely believe that over a period of 100 games, if you play consistently — then turn the dial a little bit depending on the circumstances, like the personnel you’ve got or form — then I don’t think anything should really change.’
