. . . AND FOUND

TWO months ago, we heard from Lisa Durridge, 69, who was keen to reconnect with a couple she met in 1999. ‘I met Judy and Roland Fischer while my husband Jon and I were on a touring holiday in eastern France. They were based in Oxford and worked in the teaching profession. Judy was English, but Roland was either German or Austrian. When we met, they were living in Strasbourg, working at a language school there. They spent one Sunday afternoon showing us around. ‘After the holiday, we kept in touch by occasional postcard, and last heard from them in about 2001. Jon and I would enjoy seeing them again and hearing of their life abroad.’ Judy’s sister Caroline read this column and the Fischers, who time out for a cold drink on a sunny summer day: roland and Judy enjoy a beer in Strasbourg after showing Lisa and husband Jon around the city in 1999 retired a few years ago and settled in north Wales, are in contact with Lisa — delighted emails have been exchanged.
