Mosque assaults suspect in court
A MAN accused of setting alight two worshippers from mosques in London and Birmingham appeared in court yesterday charged with attempted murder.
Mohammed Abbkr, 28, is accused of spraying a substance on the two pensioners and igniting it in attacks exactly three weeks apart.
Both victims suffered severe burns to their arms and face.
He is accused of attacking Mohammed Rayaz, 70, in Edgbaston, Birmingham, on Monday evening and Hashi Odowa, 82, in Ealing on February 27. Abbkr, who is Sudanese, was arrested outside the Edgbaston mosque on Tuesday.
