A racy Mills & Boon bonkbuster . . . from Jagger’s 36-year-old flame

ROLLING Stone Mick Jagger returned his advance rather than write a book — admittedly a book about his saucy life — but girlfriend Melanie Hamrick is clearly happy to put pen to paper.

I can reveal that the former ballerina has completed the first in a two-book deal with the famous romantic fiction publishers Mills & Boon.

Due out in June, it is called First Position, and is apparently more racy bonkbuster than swoonsome bodice ripper.

The couple have been together since 2014 (they met when both were performing in Tokyo) and are ‘inseparable’ according to friends. Their son Deveraux is six, Melanie is 36 and Mick will be 80 in July.

They share homes in London, Paris, and Mustique, plus a castle in the Loire — and a small property in Florida, too.

Melanie’s new career as a writer follows her retirement in 2019 after 15 years with the American Ballet Theatre, as a dancer and choreographer.

She signed a deal with Mills & Boon, which is part of the Harper Collins publishing group, back in 2019 and took around a year to write her first book — which I’m assured is pacy, well plotted and worth a read.

Constant speculation about an engagement is a source of amusement to the couple.

I’m told ‘Mick has zero interest in getting married under any circumstances; and Mel never talks about it either. It’s not something which she would ever push for, and it will not be happening’.

Friendly, down to earth and happy to stay in the background, she has won over his friends and the Stones entourage.

Sir Mick has eight children by five women. His first child, daughter Karis, 52, was a result of a fling with actress and singer Marsha Hunt. He went on to have jewellery designer daughter Jade, 51, with first wife Bianca.

He has four children with Jerry Hall — daughters Elizabeth, 38, and Georgia, 31; and sons James, 37, and Gabriel, 25.

Jagger and Hall underwent a marriage ceremony on a beach in Bali and Ms Hall certainly believed that they were man and wife — but it later transpired it had no legal standing. The pair eventually split via an annulment, with Jagger giving his former love a share in the marital property and a mere £12 million.

Hall famously said: ‘I didn’t like the ideal of annulling after 23 years and four children. It seemed a bit rude.’

Jagger also has son Lucas, following a fling with Brazilian model Luciana Gimenez Morad.

The singer never married girlfriend L’Wren Scott, a model turned fashion designer whom he dated from 2001 until her death by suicide in 2014. She had been suffering from depression and had business problems.
