WHEN the teenage girls from a football team end up stranded in the Canadian wilderness after a plane crash back in 1996, the battle to survive consumes them. Years later, the aftereffects still linger as we follow their complicated adult lives. Skipping back and forth between the two time periods, this fantastically gripping and dark drama delivered no end of shocks in series one, and the new series doesn’t disappoint. Melanie Lynskey, Juliette Lewis and Christina Ricci all return, with The Hobbit’s Elijah Wood joining the adult cast as ‘citizen detective’ Walter, who will challenge the unpredictable Misty (Ricci, pictured with Wood). As the new, eightpart series gets under way, it’s two months into winter back in the snowy wilds of Canada, and the survivors are struggling with falling rations and sinking morale. In the present, the reappearance of an old face ruffles feathers. You can still catch up with series one on Paramount+, and the show has already been recommissioned for a third series — which can’t crash-land soon enough.
