Celine cancels tour over her ‘statue’ illness
CELINE Dion yesterday cancelled her Courage World Tour as she continues to battle a neurological disorder.
The singer, 55, revealed in December she has stiff person syndrome, which causes muscles to tense uncontrollably and can leave sufferers as ‘human statues’, unable to walk or talk.
She had already postponed a number of shows for the tour which was booked to run this year and next, and yesterday said: ‘it’s best we cancel everything now until i’m really ready to be back on stage. i’m not giving up... i can’t wait to see you again!’
There is no cure for the condition, which affects one in a million people, but treatment can slow its progression. Celine said she is ‘working really hard to build back her strength’.
