Clarke invites U21s to training camp

MARK WALKER

STEVE CLARKE will invite some of the Scotland Under-21s to train with his senior squad ahead of the crucial Euro 2024 showdown with Norway next month. Yesterday, Scot Gemmill named his Under-21 squad for their forthcoming friendly double-header, also against Norway, in Spain. There was a welcome return for Liverpool superkid Ben Doak, along with Rangers defender Leon King, although captain Josh Doig is injured, and there were two firsttime call-ups in Swansea’s Liam Smith and Dundee’s Lyall Cameron. Clarke will take his squad to the Murcia region of Spain after the Scottish Cup final for a training camp to prepare for their qualifiers with Norway and Georgia. And he will give a few of the youngsters a huge opportunity to impress during the senior squad’s camp at La Torre. Gemmill said: ‘It would be an unbelievable chance for them to go and train with the full squad and obviously they need to take that opportunity.’
