Mourinho out to create new history in Europa League final

TWO decades have passed since Jose Mourinho first won a European trophy, when his Porto side beat Celtic in Seville. Now, 20 years on, the Portuguese can land a sixth piece of European silverware when Roma meet Sevilla in Budapest tonight. The Portuguese manager has won all five of his European finals contested. Tonight, though, Mourinho faces his most daunting foe yet — a Sevilla side for whom the Europa League has long been imprinted onto their soul. The Spanish club have triumphed six times in this competition — more than anyone else. ‘I don’t think too much about what happened before,’ said Mourinho. ‘History doesn’t win matches.’ On the possibility of becoming the first coach to win this competition with three different teams, he added: ‘I really don’t care.’ SEVILLA v ROMA — Kick-off: 8pm, Puskas Arena Stadium, Budapest. TV: LIVE on BT Sport 1.
