Just a drop for me

A little goes a long way when it comes to these super-concentrated glow getters

There are days when it can feel as though your attempts at staying on top of all things beauty are just a drop in the ocean. But here’s some good news: sometimes a drop is actually all you need to make a big difference.

In fact, luxury skincare brand Katherine Daniels would say that a drop is a lot when it comes to its new Pure Pigment Foundation Drops (1, £40, katherinedaniels cosmetics.com). These clever coloured drops are available in four shades but their chemistry means they are very versatile and can be shade-matched across many skin tones and give varying levels of cover. If you want to use it as foundation, add it to your SPF in your hand before applying – we all know we should use sunscreen daily, and the drops have been formulated to ensure they will blend with any whiteness contained in the SPF.

However, you can mix as you like: use with your face cream, alone as a concealer or added to an eye cream for a lighter coverage – as the formula contains pure pigment and there are no bulking agents (such as magnesium, which can cause foundation to look dry or sit in lines) it gives skin a very luscious, velvety finish. You can even mix the drops with a body lotion to add colour to legs when the weather gets warmer. I urge you to try them because this is a nifty product that took three years and an awful lot of dedication to create and get right.

Beauty drops are having a serious moment.

Drunk Elephant D-bronzi Anti-pollution Sunshine Drops (2, £31, spacenk.com) sold out at Spacenk in three hours. Although stock has since been replenished – and more is on the way – the store had to limit quantities purchased online (some customers who bought several bottles have been reselling them for a profit on trading websites). A drop or two of D-bronzi added to your skincare can give a golden glow, with botanical seed oils and vitamins providing an antioxidant effect.

Pai The Impossible Glow drops

(3, £19, cultbeauty.co.uk) are also worth trying. I like the Rose Gold shade (pictured), which really delivers on the promise of its name and gives the face an overall boost of luminosity. I go easy on these as too much can seem shimmery. Alternatively, you can simply use them on cheekbones as a highlighter.

For self-tan drops, my top choices are Clarins Radiance-plus Golden Glow Booster (4, £23, clarins.co.uk), dispensed via a narrow tip at the end of the bottle – just mix with your moisturiser – and Tan-luxe The Face Illuminating Self-tan Drops (5, £36, spacenk.com), which have a pipette for measured application.

Mix them in as you like – with SPF, foundation or face cream

New balls, please

The natural deodorant category is booming – but one refillable brand that has really impressed me is Rollr (£24, kickstarter.com), housed in an elegant glass jar. Simply pour in the powder of your preferred fragrance – choose between vetiver, mandarin and clary sage – add water and shake. You can even customise your roller: stick with steel or choose a semi-precious, ethically sourced gemstone option of rose quartz or green aventurine for an extra £7. Refills cost just £5 per month and each sachet will last four to six weeks.
