Motorway is closed by WW2 bomb

RESIDENTS were evacuated and shops shut yesterday to allow Army bomb disposal experts to destroy a live Second World War bomb in a controlled explosion.

Police said the device was uncovered by builders on Thursday in Goole, East Yorkshire.

John Sharpe, site manager of the Beal Homes development where the bomb was found, said it was thought to have been dropped by a Lancaster bomber before it made a crash-landing.

Eight homes were evacuated and the M62 was shut between junctions 35 and 37, causing traffic jams and delays.
