Lookwho the BBC sent to report – Phil McCann!
AMID panic at the pumps, BBC News had just the man to report on the chaos – reporter Phil McCann.
The journalist was sent to a BP petrol station in Stockport which had run out of petrol, but viewers soon became more interested in the fact that he had the perfect name for the job – a play on ‘fill my can’. Mr McCann’s report quickly went viral as viewers spotted the perfect example of what is known as nominative determinism – a theory that people move towards jobs that fit their name.
Warming to the theme, one Twitter user quipped: ‘Now over to Sonny Spells for the weather…’
