Brady urges all players to ignore anti-vax theories

By Derek Hunter

KARREN BRADY has criticised footballers for refusing to get vaccinated because of conspiracy theories ‘too ludicrous to repeat’.

The West Ham vice-chairman (left) admitted clubs are becoming worried about the number of players resisting the Covid jab. Brady also said she suspected the Government could rule players must be fully immunised to compete

‘Clubs are beginning to fret about the anti-vaxxers among their staff,’ she wrote in her column in The Sun.

‘Some players are reluctant to have it — believing that even if they get the virus, they are unlikely to be badly affected.

‘Some are worried about the imagined detrimental longterm effects and a host of other conspiracy theories that are too ludicrous to repeat.’

Premier League chairmen were shown data last week saying the proportion of unvaccinated players in the top flight was as much as 70 per cent.

The League later clarified that the statistics were outdated but clubs are still understood to be concerned by the number of unvaccinated players.

The most recent data collected by the English Football League shows 70 per cent of players are fully vaccinated.

Brady said she hoped elite players who have had the two jabs would reveal it publicly.

Organisers of the Qatar World Cup are thought to be considering making full vaccination a prerequisite for all players.
