Surely at the very least those private beds could have been utilised to treat NHS patients suffering from cancer and other illnesses, helping to prevent the huge backlog and loss of life due to late diagnosis we now face? Instead we seem to have wasted millions of pounds of public money on paying the private sector to take a holiday.
