Bea’s back for wedding of the year

By Michael Powell

PRINCESSES Beatrice and Eugenie were wreathed in smiles as they joined titled guests from across Europe yesterday for a lavish royal wedding ceremony in Greece.

Prince Philippos, godson of Princess Diana and the Duke of Edinburgh, exchanged vows with Nina Flohr, the daughter of a billionaire, in one of the most lavish society events of the year.

It was the first high-profile public event Beatrice had attended since the birth of her first child, Sienna, last month. Wearing a lightcoloured blouse and full-length dark blue skirt, she paused on the steps of the Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral in Athens to wave to crowds of wellwishers. By her side was husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, in a navy twopiece suit with a white pocket square.

Princess Eugenie wore an elegant black satin dress, while husband Jack Brooksbank teamed his suit with dark sunglasses as both couples entered the church.

Prince Philippos and Nina attended Eugenie and Jack’s wedding in October 2018. The bride is also friends with Beatrice’s husband. In fact, Philippos’s wellconnected family meant there were representatives from almost every royal family in Europe at yesterday’s event.

This was the bride and groom’s third ceremony. They actually wed last December in a small civil ceremony in St Moritz, Switzerland, followed by a high-society springtime celebration in Cambridgeshire.

The London-born groom is the youngest child of the last king and queen of Greece, Constantine II and Anne-Marie, originally of Denmark. Constantine II, who is Prince William’s godfather, was a first cousin of the late Prince Philip, whose absence yesterday would have been keenly felt by his Greek relatives.

Philippos, 35, a hedge fund analyst, was raised in a 13-bedroom stately house on the edge of Hampstead Heath where Princess Diana was a frequent visitor with Princes William and Harry.
