Under her thumb!

Forget riotous parties – Jagger’s enjoying cosy nights on US tour with his ballerina girlfriend. And he’s never been happier!

FOR a man who has reportedly bedded more than 4,000 women, it is a remarkable change of pace.

Last Sunday, after the second of two sell-out concerts in Los Angeles, lothario Mick Jagger returned to his £8,500-a-night ‘family suite’ at the Maybourne hotel in Beverly Hills and enjoyed a meal with girlfriend Melanie Hamrick (cooked by his private chef) while their four-year-old son Deveraux slept in an adjoining room.

There were no drugs, rock ’n’ roll or partying for the once-notorious womaniser who famously implored ‘Let’s Spend the Night Together’ and whose hits include Paint It Black, Sympathy For The Devil and Under My Thumb.

Indeed, if there was any partying, it was taking place at the five-star Four Seasons hotel across town, where bandmates Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood were holed up with members of The Rolling Stones’ entourage and crew.

According to sources, a newly reformed Jagger, 78, preferred to stay at a separate hotel with his family, spending his days sightseeing, hiking local trails and enjoying intimate meals à deux with former ballerina Melanie, 34, either in their suite or at their favourite Japanese restaurant, Matsuhisa.

‘Mick’s totally changed,’ said one. ‘He’s always had a serious girlfriend but when he’s been on the road touring there have always been other girls, lots of them.

‘This time it’s different. Melanie, Dev and the nanny are on tour with him so it’s all about early nights and hanging

with his family. And he’s happier than I’ve ever seen him.’

The band spent ten days in LA before leaving on Friday for the next show in their No Filter Tour in Minneapolis tonight. ‘Mick didn’t hang out with the band or crew at all except when they were working,’ the source said. ‘Covid regulations meant that everyone had to stay in their own bubbles and get tested daily by a team of medics who travel with them. Mick chose to stay in his family bubble.

‘Even at the concert venue he hung out in his dressing room with Melanie and Dev. He performed and then it was straight back to the hotel.

‘He and Melanie are fitness fanatics. They’ve got their own private chef so it’s egg-whites for breakfast and steamed fish or grilled chicken for dinner.

‘One of the rooms in their suite was set up as a gym.

‘He’s a reformed character. Mick hasn’t done drugs in years and barely drinks, but Melanie is a professional dancer so she has him working out with a personal trainer every day to keep his energy levels up, and they eat clean.’

The Mail on Sunday has learned that the pandemic marked a major turning point in the relationship between Jagger and Melanie, who first met in 2014 shortly after the death of his then long-time girlfriend, designer L’Wren Scott, 49.

Despite the birth of Deveraux in 2016 – Jagger’s eighth child by five different women – he continued to avoid commitment and was linked with stunning film producer Noor Alfallah, who, sources say, he would ‘regularly hook up with both in LA and elsewhere’.

The source said: ‘The pandemic changed Mick’s outlook on life, as it did for a lot of people. He and Melanie spent a lot of time together, mostly at his chateau in France, and he really enjoyed taking the time to be a hands-on father to Deveraux. He talks quite openly about how Covid made him stop and think about what is important in life. And he’s chosen Melanie and his kid.’

The death in August of drummer Charlie Watts, 80, has also given Jagger pause for thought.

‘The Stones have opened every concert with a tribute to Charlie and Mick has been talking about him a lot,’ said the source. ‘You can’t be friends and bandmates with someone for that long without it affecting you.

‘Mick totally appreciates the smaller things in life now. Sure, he’s still got the private jets and all the trappings of wealth, but this week in LA he was happy to take some down time and go sightseeing with Melanie. They drove around and did what “normal” people do. They went hiking and swam in the hotel pool.’

A beaming Jagger posted pictures of his ‘tame’ new life on Instagram under the heading ‘Mattresses, murals and more around LA’.

The ‘mattresses’ reference was to a bedding store which sits below a mural of Jagger in his 1960s heyday on La Cienega Boulevard.

He also went to model daughter Georgia May’s favourite hair salon, BleachLA, and posed in front of mannequins in the window of a famous Hollywood lingerie shop called Trashy Lingerie.

‘He went full-on tourist and loved it,’ the source added. His older

children are said to adore Melanie, unlike some of Jagger’s other paramours over the years.

Eldest daughter Karis, 51, lives in LA with her husband and two children and met up with the couple last week.

‘His kids love Melanie. She’s funny and feisty and they know she looks after their dad and makes him happy.

‘No one ever thought this day would come but Melanie has definitely tamed him. She’s a good influence on him,’ the source added.

Jagger was married to Bianca, mother of daughter Jade, and then to Texan model Jerry Hall, with whom he had four children. Hall left him after 23 years when she learned of his involvement with Brazilian model Luciana Gimenez Morad. Jagger later tried to claim that their Bali wedding was invalid.

Jagger’s list of lovers includes Brigitte Bardot, Kate Moss, Tina Turner, Uma Thurman, Madonna and Carly Simon. Biographer Chris Anderson claimed the frontman has had sex with more than 4,000 women, including Angelina Jolie.

For Jagger, those conquests are now long in the past.

‘I’ve never seen him happier than he is when Melanie is around,’ the source continued. ‘She’s gorgeous to look at but she also gets him. They’re always laughing. You never hear them talk of marriage but they are like a married couple already.’

The couple have rarely spoken about their relationship.

American Melanie, who retired from dancing and now works as a choreographer and producer, has filled her social media with adorable photographs of Deveraux.

She owns a flat in New York and Jagger recently bought her a home near Sarasota, Florida.

In a rare public comment, she said: ‘It’s important for me and my son… to stay together as a family, especially with the uncertain times.’

Will she become the third – and perhaps last – Mrs Jagger?

Only time will tell if, finally, Mick has found his Satisfaction.
