Autumnwatch
Tuesday-Friday, BBC2, 8pm
As the temperatures start to drop and the nights draw in, there’s one silver lining – the arrival of the Autumnwatch team to enthral us with nature’s seasonal activity. Chris Packham, Gillian Burke, Megan McCubbin and Michaela Strachan bring us reports from across the UK as the humble hedgehog (right) and the rest of the animal kingdom prepare for the winter ahead.
The main base of the 4,000-acre estate at Wild Ken Hill in Norfolk should be rich with incredible displays of wildlife. In particular the presenters are on the lookout for the Snettisham Spectacular – named after a village near the coast, it’s a miraculous moment when the skies are filled with birds flying in mass formation.
Plus there’s a visit to the Isle of Mull, with its red deer, eagles and otters, while in Northern Ireland we learn all about the secret life of the mole.
