Actor Paul Dano made his directorial debut with this sensitive drama, which he adapted from Richard Ford’s novel with Zoe Kazan. However, it’s Jake Gyllenhaal and Carey Mulligan (above) who head the cast, as a couple whose relationship becomes strained when he takes a dangerous job – and their teen son is caught in the middle.
