Where latest £4bn will go
THE Government’s ‘heat and buildings strategy’ – unveiled last week – will cost £3.9 billion and is aimed at decarbonising buildings as the UK moves towards net zero.
The money is intended to be used as follows:
£450 million
Grants to persuade private homeowners to buy heat pumps instead of new gas boilers.
£800 million
Earmarked for the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund, which carries out energy efficiency upgrades for housing associations and other social landlords.
£950 million
Money for the Home Upgrade Grant scheme, which is for energy efficiency upgrades for local authority tenants.
£1.425 billion
Allocated to the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme, which provides grants for public sector bodies to fund heat decarbonisation and energy efficiency measures.
£338 million
To help the Heat Network Transformation Programme, which aims to decarbonise the UK’s heat network sector.
