No identity crisis at this party
THIS is a new one on me: a ball where pronoun wristbands are handed out to help guests call each other by their preferred title.
Before Glitterball, branded as Oxford’s only LGBTQ+ ball, was held at the Town Hall on Friday, a social media post said: ‘We will be providing paper wristbands with pronouns on them.
‘You can take as many as you identify with, and we hope it can ensure that everyone is gendered correctly without having to go out of their way to correct people.’
I have to say that pronouns are the last thing on my mind when I’m clubbing. I thought the most common phrases used are: ‘Do YOU want a drink?’ or ‘Would YOU like to dance?’
