Chances are you’ve never heard of Dean Reed (left), but his story, explored in this documentary, is an astonishing one. Reed was a US singer who defected to the USSR in the 1970s and went on to become a Soviet superstar. He packed out stadiums behind the Iron Curtain and extolled the virtues of communism to his devoted fans. Along the way he plotted revolution with Che Guevara, talked poetry with Pablo Neruda and was lauded by Nikita Khrushchev, only to meet a sticky end in an East Berlin lake... From Sunday
