Billy Wilder’s film noir, which he co-wrote with Raymond Chandler, is one of cinema’s greatest thrillers. Barbara Stanwyck (above, with Fred MacMurray) is superb as a femme fatale who seduces an insurance salesman, then persuades him to take part in her nefarious scheme. ★★★★★
