Myleene’s start-up is backed by United’s Ed

THE vice chairman of Manchester United has backed a meal delivery start-up founded by singer Myleene Klass and serial restaurant entrepreneur Jamie Barber.

Ed Woodward, the executive who re-signed Cristiano Ronaldo this season, has contributed to a seed funding round for My Supper Hero. Klass and Barber – who became friends through their children – launched the business late last year, delivering meals including duck cassoulet and roasted stuffed sea bream to customers. They have raised £500,000 from investors including Woodward and Saracens rugby club chairman Neil Golding. Former executives of delivery firm Deliveroo and women’s magazines Elle and Grazia have also backed the business.

The cash will be used to test the service nationwide. Barber said a further funding round could follow later this year. He told The Mail on Sunday: ‘During lockdown we quickly got sick of junk-foodie takeaways and saw there’s a gap in the market for premium home delivered meals. We wanted meals that chefs would eat at home.’

He opened Hush in Mayfair with the late actor Sir Roger Moore and later launched Brazilian cuisine chain Cabana and Hache burgers.
