THE TALK OF FOOTBALL

2022 TRANSFER SPECIAL

Compiled by Simon Jones and Joe Bernstein

■ RIVER PLATE are increasingly confident of agreeing a deal with Manchester City for forward Julian Alvarez. City have offered around £13.5million plus add-ons for Alvarez, 21, the South American player of the year. Any deal will likely see him return to River Plate on loan. Manchester United declined the chance to sign Alvarez earlier this month.

■ DERBY’S talented teenager Fetsy Ebosele has rejected a move to rivals Nottingham Forest after they made a £500,000 bid. The 19-year-old, who can play at right back and as a winger, is out of contract in the summer and also has interest from teams in the Premier League and Serie A.

■ NEWCASTLE are considering a move for BRIGHTON centre back Dan Burn. ARSENAL goalkeeper Bernd Leno is being assessed too with Newcastle pondering whether to move now or in the summer. Arsenal are set to sign New England goalkeeper Matt Turner for £5m and remain in talks with Juventus over an 18-month loan for midfielder Arthur.

■ CHELSEA have signed left back Dylan Williams from Derby County. The 18-year-old will join the Blues’ U23s and said: ‘I am absolutely delighted.’

■ LIVERPOOL defender Nat Phillips is wanted by PSV Eindhoven but only on a loan deal. Liverpool want up to £15m for the centre back, who has attracted interest from Watford, Burnley, Newcastle and Sheffield United. Reds defender Rhys Williams is also attracting loan enquiries after he was recalled from Swansea City.

■ LEEDS UNITED expect to be rebuffed in their £20m bid to prise Brenden Aaronson from Red Bull Salzburg. Further talks are due after Leeds made the 21-year-old midfielder their prime target. Salzburg want the USA international to stay until the end of the season.

■ BURNLEY have offered £8.3m for Zenit St Petersburg striker Sardar Azmoun. Manager Sean Dyche is searching for a striker with Wolfsburg’s Wout Weghorst and Getafe’s Enes Unal also options.
